“Shedding Light on the Working Forest:” Focus on the Northeastern Forest’s Workers

2017年2月1日 | 新闻

A traveling exhibition of paintings 和 poetry titled “Shedding Light on the Working Forest” will go on display at the Paul Smith’s College VIC’s Heron Marsh Gallery from Feb. 3月3日至3月25日.

The opening event will feature a presentation by visual artist Kathleen Kolb 和 poet Ver和ah Porche from 10:10 to 11 a.m. in the Freer Auditorium on the Paul Smith’s College campus. The event is free 和 open to the public.

In conjunction with the exhibit, Paul Smith’s professor Celia Evans 和 Adirondack storyteller Bill Torrey will give a musical-和-storytelling performance at 6 p.m. Feb 23 in the theater at the Paul Smith’s College VIC.

The exhibit celebrates the l和scape of the working forest 和 the voices of those who make their living there. Shedding Light draws on the artistic friendship of painter Kathleen Kolb 和 poet Ver和ah Porche, who are committed to subjects that have been largely overlooked by the arts. This exhibition engages those with a vital interest in the forest as a workplace, 一个家, a field of study 和 a playground, as well as viewers who have never set foot in the woods.

The VIC’s art galleries are open 9 a.m. 到5点.m., Wednesday through Sunday. Admission is free. An extensive cross-country ski 和 snowshoe trail system is open dawn to dusk. Trail passes are required.
